Lifos Go delivers outstanding performance

Lightweight and Powerful

Lifos Go is an advanced Lithium Iron Phosphate battery that is transforming off grid energy thanks to its easy direct swap capability (no extra charger needed), small size, super light weight and extremely long life.

Driving down the cost per cycle

A Lifos Go battery is undeniably more expensive than a good quality lead acid or gel battery but it's the cost per cycle that shows its true value. For example, a Lifos Go 72 battery has a gross stored capacity of 72Ah. With a 90% depth of discharge it ensures there is 64.8Ah of usable power. Compare this to a lead acid battery that can only discharge 50% of its power so a 130Ah lead acid battery will be needed to replicate the performance of a Lifos Go 72. Costing £699 a Lifos Go 68 gives 2750+ charging cycles thus a cost of 25p per cycle, whereas a quality 130Ah lead acid battery costs around £240 with 500+ charging cycles at a cost of 48p per cycle - some 92% more expensive than Lifos Go.

Saved time equals saved money

In many commercial applications, a battery is used in combination with a solar panel to provide power to equipment such as car park ticket machines, electric fences, data loggers and street lighting. For these devices the cost of the battery itself is small compared with the cost of sending a technician once a year to change the battery. Lifos Go will reduce this service visit to once every 7.5 years yielding significant labour and material savings. In addition, waste, vehicle congestion and carbon emissions are also reduced.

Minimum size maximising flexibility

The Lifos Go 72, 105 and 200 models are supplied with removable terminal posts allowing for ring terminal cable connections to be made if there is a height restriction. Lifos can also be used on its side if space is really tight. Multiple Lifos Go batteries can be connected in series or parallel if a battery bank needs to be created. Visit the Products section for specific information.

Vast temperature range

Lifos Go has been designed to discharge to a very wide temperature band of -20 to +60 °C, so there's no problem if the mercury drops!

No gas, no danger

Lifos Go does not emit noxious gases so it does not need to be housed in a specially vented chamber. Cobalt-free LiFePO4 is the safest lithium chemistry available and the BMS operates a fail to safe protocol ensuring that, even if the battery is mis-used or damaged, it cannot become hazardous. The Lifos Go range has CE, RoHs and the extremely hard to achieve UN38.3 certification, guaranteeing safe and reliable operation at all times.

Faster charging

The battery management system (BMS) built into each Lifos Go battery, controls the amount of power it can receive when being charged. If a Lifos Go is in a low state of charge its BMS can allow a faster flow of charging current. This function is invaluable when being charged by a solar panel as full battery charge status in any off grid application can be achieved so much quicker.

Keeping you in the picture

Any lithium battery discharges its power differently to a lead acid battery and, as such, false readings can be seen on standard battery power meters. This is not a problem for the smart Lifos Go range. All have an in built Bluetooth app that is free to download and use on Android and Apple devices. Critical information, such as battery voltage and state of charge can be seen at a glance. This intelligent technology also gives a warning when the battery needs to be recharged thus helping to ensure you always have a fully functioning battery.

Keeping you in the picture

Monitoring the state of charge of your Lifos Go 72Ah,105Ah and 200Ah batteries is easy through a smartphone via our bluetooth app.

Lifos construction

All models in the Lifos Go range of batteries is constructed using the very best prismatic cells – four per battery, each interconnected using conductor plates mechanically fixed to each cell. This construction method is far more reliable that the typical lithium battery cell construction using 48 (or more) 18650 tubular cells, each of which generally has a solder interconnection. Basic electronics teaches us that the more connections we make in a circuit the higher the potential for failure. Add in the frailty of solder connections and it becomes clear why Lifos is now regarded as one of the most reliable, high performing LiFePO4 batteries in the marine, campervan and commercial industries.

Safe and reliable power

No gases

Lifos Go does not emit noxious gases therefore does not need to be housed in a specially vented chamber. Lifos Go has a huge operating temperature range of -20 to +60 °C and it can be used in any orientation (e.g. on its side), although on its base will give the best performance. Like all batteries it should not be allowed to discharge fully over a long period. If Lifos Go is left without any power input for a 6-month period the battery must be charged. A warning will be sent via the app as a reminder.

Note: Lifos Go can discharge in temperatures down to -20°C but cannot receive a charge at any temperature lower than 0°C. If Lifos Go is positioned within a housing, such as a caravan battery compartment or similar, it should be protected from freezing temperatures. If, however, Lifos Go is exposed to the elements it should be placed inside a battery box or similar with some level of insulation.

 Safety and testing

Recently there has been a number of unfortunate instances where low-grade lithium batteries have self-combusted. The ensuing fire caused serious damage to its surroundings and, in a few cases, to the user themselves. To avoid these issues, always ask your battery supplier for the following information about testing and standards. If you are in any doubt, request a copy of the appropriate certificates. Any reputable supplier / manufacturer will be able to provide this by return.

EU Certification

All batteries supplied within the EU must have CE certification to confirm they meet EN 61000-6-1 & 3.

RoHS Directive

Lithium batteries need to comply with the RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) Directive because, unlike lead acid batteries, a lithium unit contains electronics. Lifos Go has been tested for EN 61000-6-1&3 and the RoHS Directive by TUV Rheinland and was passed in being fully compliant for both.

UN38.3

In addition, lithium batteries should also undergo the strict UN38.3 testing regime, which includes an assessment of a battery’s stability and performance under the following conditions; vibration, impact, short circuit, overcharge, extreme heat and cold, low pressure and shock. All models in the Lifos Go range have passed the UN38.3. These three certificates prove a battery is fit for purpose and will not cause a hazard during its use. Each certificate is freely available and a copy will be sent on request. Please email hello@solartechnology.co.uk and title the message Lifos Certificates.

Recycling

Lifos is a member of a UK accredited scheme to safely and securely recycle lithium batteries. This service is complete free to customers. Just take the battery to the nearest household recycling centre.

Lifos technology first to gain NCC seal of approval

After rigorous testing and evaluation, the Lifos Go 105Ah battery has achieved verification from the NCC, the body representing the UK's caravan and motorhome market. Lifos is the first smart lithium iron phosphate battery to be awarded NCC leisure battery verification.
